6 Step Chic Messy Side Braid
September 29, 2014 at 6:29 pm 0
HDIYhair   Hello fellow Mamas. My name is Caysi Jean and I am a Freelance Hairstylist/ Mama to Gunner DuPree who is 13 months. I am here today to show you an easy on the go look in just 6 steps! I know how hard it is to take care of ourselves let alone our images. Especially with all the late nights with our babes. Gunner at the moment is getting his molars and it takes all of me just to roll out of bed let alone get ready in the morning. (Oh and let's not forget my fav staple red lipstick buried in the bottom of my diaper bag when I really need a pick me up!!!) But I always feel better if I just take 10 mins to put on mascara and this messy side braid and hit the park running after my energetic toddler! Wow, I can't believe he's already a toddler, where does the time go! I hope you all enjoy this look! What I love about these looks, like this braid, is that it's a simple touch, but it has a big impact. It will take a few tries. It is always harder to do things on yourselves, but once you have it I promise it will be one of your go-to's. Stay chic ladies, lord knows we all need some help from time to time! DIYHAIR11.To start this look I have 2 day old post date night with the hubby wavy hair. You can do this look with straight hair too,it just depends on what you're going for. It's amazing what a little dry shampoo for extra texture can do for you. ( I like to use Bumble and Bumble hair powder, or when traveling always Dove- cause I know I can get it anywhere) When you do your part keep in mind the further over to one side you go the more dramatic the outcome will be. DIYHAIR2 2.Grab the first section and hold with one hand and take your other hand with two fingers make a peace sign and poke through creating your normal 3 strand braid. DIYHAIR3 3.Then start your Dutch braid. If you don't know what a Dutch braid is basically it's a French braid inside out. In other words, if your crossing over when you French braid, then you would cross under when you Dutch braid. With this Dutch braid you will only be grabbing hair from the back part of the braid while going down the head. Stop grabbing hair when you reach the bottom of your ear lobe and continue with a normal 3 section braid to finish the braid. DIYHAIR4 4.Tie the braid off with a clear rubber band. DIYHAIR5 DIYHAIR6   5 & 6. Start from the top of the braid and gently pull outwards all the way down to the bottom of the braid. This creates the messy undone texture. Willow’s New Ride-
September 24, 2014 at 4:50 pm 1

Nuna Pepp-

Now that Willow is a whopping 8 months old, I noticed that she is getting more and more fussy when she has to be in her car seat for long periods of time. We have this awesome Nuna Pepp convertible stroller that attaches straight to her car seat which has been super convenient, but I really think the nugget is getting sick of just staring at us when we push her around for walks. Thank God for companies like Nuna and all of their attachments!! We switched Willow's stroller to the facing out attachment, which is this chic scarlet color and took less than 5 minutes to assemble with a few snaps. Check her out, she is loving it!!

Must Have Travel Essentials!!
September 22, 2014 at 4:57 pm 0
Willow and I are about to start a journey together to see our family in different states here soon. There are a lot of plane rides in our future!! So I thought I would share some awesome travel products for mom and baby. Take a peek inside my travel diaper bag below! travelessentials 1. Diapers/Wipes-The rule of thumb, is pack one diaper for every hour of travel. We love the Honest Company diapers and wipes. Check out their new patterns for fall below, stylish and practical!Photo via Honest Company.   honestcompany2. Sophie the Giraffe-Willow has 2 teeth and about 18 to go. So at this point, she is a chewing machine. She loves to gnaw on the Sophie the Giraffe, so much that this is her second one! It is 100% natural, great for teething, and is made to stimulate all 5 of your baby's developing senses. SofieGir3. Teething Necklace-Did I mention Willow is teething...she tries to eat all of my jewelry, so why not wear something she can bite! This chew bead necklace below lets mamas be chic and lets baby soothe their sore gums at the same time. It is 100% silicone, and dishwasher safe (free of BPA, phthalates, PVC, cadmuim, and lead). chewnecklace 4. Bbox Baby Bottle with dispenser-This bottle is perfect for breast milk or formula feeding. Designed for anti-colic and shaped so your little one can easily grip it. You can just fill the dispenser in the base of the bottle with formula, add some water to the bottle, push the dispenser up and shake. So much better than carrying a can of formula around. For breast milk, the dispenser just unscrews, and it comes with a flat bottom which instantly turns it into a normal bottle (BPA, phtalates, and PVC free). bboxbottle 5. Bbox Diaper Wallet-This thing is awesome! I wish I would have known about it earlier! You know how your diaper bag comes with a changing pad, then you add your pack of wipes, and then your diaper bag becomes super heavy with all the other junk you shove in there. This helps organize and eliminate some craziness in your bag. The box is sleek, built with compartments for wipes with dual access and fits a thin changing mat. They come in all kinds of patterns and colors. I love the cherry print on the changing mat (BPA, phtalates, and PVC free).bboxbabyboxbboxblanket3bboxblanket6.Bbox Travel Bib with Flexible Spoon- This is awesome for on-the-go feeding with your little one. The bib keeps your baby's outfit covered. Then the best part...the bib folds into the compartment with the spoon, zips up to save you some room, and can be easily washed and dried (BPA, phtalates, and PVC free). bboxbibbboxbib27. Funky Giraffe Bibs-With the teething, Willow's drool is out of control. I usually put one of these funky giraffe bibs on her to keep her neck and clothes dry. They have tons of fun patterns to choose from. bibs9.Totseat-A high chair for babies on the go. This little invention safely harnesses baby to almost any adult chair and is easily assembled. Made for babies 6-30 months and is super compact to help save you some room. Great for traveling, and eating out. totseat10. Aden and Anais-100% cotton, single layer, muslin swaddle blankets. These are amazing, I have about 20 of these things and we take them everywhere. They are great for swaddling, covering strollers, and cuddling. Photo via adenandanais.comadenandanais 11. (Pictured Above) Rachel Pally Baby Blanket-made out of the same jersey material as all of her clothes, this blanket is soft, comes in different designs and is perfect for keeping your little one snug on the plane (which usually tends to be freezing). I also throw in a change of clothes for me and Willow, some baggies for any soiled clothing or diaper disposal, hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes (planes are rarely cleaned thoroughly between flights) to wipe down your seat/tray table, and the baby bjorn goes everywhere with us....I think we are ready...are we? Wish me luck! Did I forget anything?? Leave me some travel tips or any items that are your travel must haves below!! Product Crush Alert-The Beauty Counter
September 19, 2014 at 2:39 pm 0
Like I have said before I have a thing for beauty products. We recently moved and there were way too many creams, lotions, toners, serums... you name it I had it. I...just...can't...help...myself! The chic mamas recently found a new line that we are crushin' on, and it made us rethink all those other products I mentioned above. The Beauty Counter is a company started by the chic mama, Ms. Renfrew. She started this line after noticing that companies were not mandated to tell consumers what ingredients were in beauty products, even when the ingredients contained carcinogens and other harmful additives. I read that most women apply as many as 10 beauty products before leaving for work in the morning, and each individual product can have a high amount of ingredients which really adds up. We tend to easily forget that our skin is our biggest organ and what goes on it, goes in! The Beauty Counter's mission states that women should never have to compromise their health for beauty. All products are safe, and non-toxic (they have a never list with all ingredients known to be harmful, found here http://www.beautycounter.com/the-never-list). In addition to the skin care line, they have make up, body products and a kids line! See my favorites here:   Nourishing Cleansing Balm- cleansing balm To be used nightly, massage balm into skin in circular motion to help improve circulation. Wipe clean with a warm cloth and rinse with cold water. This was awesome to remove makeup and clean!Photo via beautycounter.com Lustro Face Oil #2- faceoil This oil is light weight, yet I found it easily moisturized my skin for hours with only one or two drops. Its packed with antioxidants and is ideal for dry, tired skin (hello I'm a mom...sign me up) photo via beautycounter.com   Glow Sugar Scrub- bodyscrub Buff away dead skin cells with this brown sugar scrub, it smells incredible and leaves your skin feeling so soft. I liked to use this scrub to exfoliate prior to shaving, worked like a charm to get rid of any dead skin. Photo via bueatycounter.com   Kidscounter Squeaky Clean Body Wash- kidssqueaky This body wash left Willow's skin feeling clean, and moisturized as it's ingredients contain essential oils and fruit extracts.
